The sample consisted of 360 patients diagnosed with retinal detachment between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022. Data analysis employed descriptive and inferential statistics, including the chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, and logistic regression, to determine risk ratios for various factors at a 95% confidence interval.

Results showed that the prevalence of RRD was approximately three times higher than that of non-RRD types. Factors significantly associated with RRD occurrence included gender, age, alcohol, diabetes, diabetic retinopathy, myopia, eye surgery, and eye injury. Smoking and cancer were not statistically significantly associated with RRD occurrence. Patients with a history of intraocular surgery were 5.20 times more likely to develop RRD than those without such a history (95% CI = 1.39–18.82). Interestingly, smoking was significantly associated with a decreased chance of RRD by 0.13 times (95% CI = -3.83 to -0.26). The study findings highlight the need for surveillance and education for patients with RRD risk factors, especially those with a history of eye surgery, myopia, diabetes, and eye injury. Furthermore, the study suggests that additional research should be conducted to explore the relationship between smoking and RRD occurrence. This research provides valuable insights into the prevalence and risk factors of RRD, which can inform clinical practice and patient education strategies. The unexpected finding regarding smoking's potential protective effect against RRD warrants further investigation to understand the underlying mechanisms and confirm this association in larger, more diverse populations.
Chantawan Paspisanu Issaree Panyawan Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences Nakhon Phanom University 2024-09-03 2024-09-03 2 2 e2965 e2965 Effects of a Program to Provide Knowledge and Promote Behavior Taking Care for Foot Wounds among Diabetic Patients, Female Surgery ward 1, Sakon Nakhon Hospital https://he03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/bcnnjournal/article/view/2880
This quasi-experimental, one group pretest-posttest research design, aimed to study the effectsprovide knowledge and promote behavior taking care for foot wounds among diabetic patients, Female Surgery ward 1, Sakon Nakhon Hospital . The participants were 35 patients with diabetic foot ulcers, who received an eight-week diabetic foot care program between March 2024 to June 2024. Data were collected using 1) program to provide knowledge and promote behavior taking care for foot wounds among diabetic patients 2) Questionnaires assessing diabetic knowledge with 15-items and foot self-care behaviors for patients with diabetic foot ulcers 3) Diabetic foot and foot self-care exam record, 10 chair stretches record, and telephone follow-up record. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and dependent t-test.

The study results showed that the experimental group had a moderate average score on diabetes knowledge before receiving the program (SD = 1.24), which increased to a high average score after the program (SD = 0.77), with a statistically significant difference (p < 0.001). Regarding foot care behavior, after receiving the foot care promotion program for diabetic patients with foot ulcers, the average score was significantly higher than before receiving the program (p < 0.001).

The result of this study suggested that the program could be applied with diabetic patients as well as family members in order to gain foot care knowledge and promote healthy foot self-care behaviors for foot wound protection and disability prevention.
Wilaiwon Promnoi Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences Nakhon Phanom University 2024-09-06 2024-09-06 2 2 e2880 e2880 Effect of Education Program on Knowledge and Self-care Behaviors of Patients with Retinal Detachment Who Underwent an Operation of Gas or Silicone Oil Injection https://he03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/bcnnjournal/article/view/3164
This quasi-experimental research the objectives were to compare knowledge scores within the experimental group and between the experimental and control groups after implementing an educational program for retinal detachment patients who underwent a surgery of gas or silicone oil injection. The sample consisted of 48 retinal detachment patients receiving treatment at the Ophthalmology Ward of Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, divided into experimental and control groups of 24 patients each. Data were collected from January to June 2024. The instruments used included a personal information questionnaire, a knowledge test, a behavioral intention questionnaire, and a teaching program. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and appropriate inferential statistics.

The results showed that, after receiving the teaching program, the knowledge level of the experimental group increased significantly, with all patients in the experimental group (100%) having good knowledge compared to 16.67% before the experiment. The control group showed only slight changes, with the number of patients having good knowledge increasing from 16.67% to 45.83%. The mean scores for knowledge and self-care behaviors after the experiment were significantly different between the two groups (p < 0.001 and p = 0.05, respectively), with the experimental group having higher average scores than the control group. This research demonstrates the effectiveness of the educational program in enhancing knowledge and improving self-care behaviors among retinal detachment patients who underwent surgery with gas or silicone oil injection.
Chantawan Paspisanu Issaree Panyawan Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences Nakhon Phanom University 2024-10-29 2024-10-29 2 2 e3164 e3164 Development of Nursing Practice Guidelines for the Prevention of Pressure Ulcers in the Male Inpatient Ward at Chokchai Hospital, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. https://he03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/bcnnjournal/article/view/3282
This research and development study aimed to develop guidelines for pressure ulcer prevention in the male inpatient ward of Chokchai Hospital, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Alcohol induced psychotic disorder (AIPD) can occur with acute intoxication, alcohol withdrawal, and chronic alcoholism. There was an increased risk of developing psychotic features, including hallucinations, delusion, and other symptoms that resemble those of schizophrenia but are merely relevant to alcohol drinking, in people with chronic alcohol dependence. AIPD is a chronic problem because patients with AIPD tend to increase their alcohol consumption again. This article reviews the literature to describe studies on AIPD and present nursing care for patients with AIPD to Case studies that have characteristics that are often encountered in nursing practice nursing personnel should increase public awareness about the problems associated with alcohol. It is incredibly important for the patient to receive the most appropriate nursing care. Moreover, HCWs should focus on educating and motivating patients with AIPD and their families to reduce alcohol consumption and stop drinking. The patients are harmless and secure, thereby reducing the likelihood of relapse and readmission.
panurat srimungkhul Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Nursing and Health Sciences Nakhon Phanom University 2024-09-19 2024-09-19 2 2 e2897 e2897
