ความผิดปกติจากการดื่มสุรา (Alcohol use disorder: AUD) เป็นปัญหาสำคัญในทุกประเทศ โรคจิตจากสุรา (Alcohol induced psychotic disorder: AIPD) อาจเกิดขึ้นได้ในระยะพิษสุราเฉียบพลัน ระยะถอนพิษสุรา และโรคติดสุราเรื้อรัง ผู้ที่เป็นโรคติดสุราเรื้อรังและดื่มสุราอย่างหนักและเป็นเวลานานมีความเสี่ยงเพิ่มขึ้นที่จะพัฒนา เกิดลักษณะอาการทางจิต เช่น อาการภาพหลอน อาการหลงผิด และอาการอื่นๆ ที่คล้ายกับโรคจิตเภทแต่สัมพันธ์กับการดื่มสุรา โรคจิตจากสุราเป็นปัญหาเรื้อรัง เนื่องจากผู้ป่วยกลุ่มนี้มีแนวโน้มที่จะกลับไปดื่มสุราอีก บทความนี้ได้ทบทวนวรรณกรรมเพื่ออธิบายเกี่ยวกับโรคจิตจากสุรา และการนำเสนอการพยาบาลในผู้ป่วยกรณีศึกษาที่มีลักษณะที่พบเจอได้บ่อยครั้งในการปฏิบัติการพยาบาล บุคลากรทางการพยาบาลควรเพิ่มความตระหนักให้กับประชาชนเกี่ยวกับปัญหาที่เกี่ยวข้องกับสุรา สิ่งสำคัญอย่างยิ่งคือ ผู้ป่วยได้รับการพยาบาลที่เหมาะสมที่สุด นอกจากนี้ บุคลากรทางการแพทย์ควรมุ่งเน้นการให้ความรู้และสร้างแรงจูงใจแก่ผู้ป่วยโรคจิตจากสุราและครอบครัว เพื่อลดและเลิกดื่มสุราด้วย เพื่อให้ผู้ป่วยไม่เกิดอันตรายและผู้ป่วยปลอดภัย ลดการกลับเป็นซ้ำ และการกลับมารักษาซ้ำในโรงพยาบาล
