Development of The Balance Scales with Cart Using Battery for Infants in Pediatrics Department of the Private Hospital

Abstract

Purpose: To improve the functional efficacy of the balance scales for the infants to be accurate to use.

Design: Case study research

Method: There were two stages to develope the balance scales with cart using battery for infants. They included 1) a development of new balance sclaes construction and 2) a laboratory test of its efficiency. The new balance scales construction consists of base, a stand, a drawer, a partition, wheels, brakes, and batteries. The functions were tested by comparing the standard properties with a pendulum from medical engineering equipment department in the pediatrics department of a private hospital.

Main finding: The structure of balance scales by attaching base 40 x 60 x 75 cm, a drawer 40 x 60 x 20 cm, partition, wheel breake 40 x 60 x 30  cm and battery 12 V  The results of stadardization by pendulums were 1, 2 and 3 kg                  

Conclusion and recommendation:  The development of balance scales can accurately measure baby’s weight. It can be conveniently used in conjunction with baby scales in the hospitals and the others places, as well as being able to use in non-electricity remote communities with battery operation.
