Development of a Nursing Service Model for Colorectal Cancer Patients in the Postoperative Period who have been Treated with Chemotherapy

Purpose: To develop a nursing care model for post-operative colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and evaluate its effectiveness.
Design: Research and Development
Method: There are 3 phases: Phase 1: Study the situation. and the problems related to the quality of patient care, opportunities for development. Phase 2: Develop a nursing service model for postoperative colorectal cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, and Phase 3: Study the results of using the nursing service model for postoperative colorectal cancer patients receiving chemotherapy.
Main findings: First, the nursing service model consists of five key components: 1) Goals 2) Knowledge, Attitude and Practice/Skills. 3) Clinical Nursing Practice Guidelines. (CNPG) 4) Case Manager Nurse. , and 5) Monitoring & Evaluation. Second, the patients’ self-care scores improved significantly after model implementation (p<.001). Additionally, service providers achieved higher scores in knowledge and attitude (p<.001), as well as in clinical nursing skills (p<.05).
Conclusion and recommendations: This nursing model proved effective in improving care quality for both patients and healthcare professionals. Further research should focus on training programs and long-term evaluations of its implementation.
