Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effect of the application of health belief models and social support to promote epidemic prevention behaviors in pulmonary tuberculosis patients, Uttaradit Hospital. The experimental group consisted of 25 people in the responsible area of Uttaradit Hospital. The experimental group received the program for 12 weeks, and the control group did not receive the program. The data were collected from questionnaires twice, before and after experiments during January 1, 2023, and Mach 31, 2023, and were analyzed by descriptive statistics in Frequency, percentages, mean, standard deviations and paired t-test with a statistical significance level of .05.

The results revealed that the knowledge of tuberculosis, perceived risk of tuberculosis transmission, perceived severity of tuberculosis transmission, perceived benefit in preventing of tuberculosis transmission, perceived barriers to prevent of tuberculosis transmission and preventive behaviors for tuberculosis transmission among prevention of tuberculosis patients were higher than before receiving the application of health belief models and social support to promote epidemic prevention behaviors in pulmonary tuberculosis patients at the 0.05 level. The adherence to TB drug intake increased from 84.0 % to 100.0 %.
