Abstract

     This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of a discharge planning program on self-care behaviors of patients undergoing cataract surgery. Nam Phong Hospital The subjects were patients and caregivers who underwent cataract surgery. At Nam Phong Hospital, Khon Kaen Province, the subjects were selected by purposive sampling and met the specified criteria. They were divided into control groups and data collection groups from the knowledge assessment questionnaire. Practice and Satisfaction Assessment Forms Data were analyzed by independent t-test, paired t-test and general characteristics of the samples were described by descriptive statistics.

     Results:The experimental group s post- intervention mean scores on cataract knowledge and on self-care behavior  care-giver ware significantly higher than their pre-intervention score, and also significantly higher than the control group s score (P<0.001) and experimental group s post- intervention mean scores on cataract satisfaction score, and also significantly higher than the control group s score(P<0.001) outcome were  prevent recurrent postoperative complication and re-operation 24 hours
