The development of Elderly care Model among Elderly School in Wangsaphung Subdistrict

Abstract

     This Action Research with the objectives were 1) Developing a curriculum and healthcare model for the elderly using the mechanism within the Elderly School of  Wangsaphung municipality and 2) Studying the outcomes of implementing the curriculum and healthcare model for the elderly using the mechanism within the Elderly School of Wangsaphung Municipality. The population involved in the research consists of elderly individuals in Wangsaphung Municipality and Wangsaphung Sub-District totaling 3,057 people. They are divided into two sample groups 1) A group used for developing the healthcare model for the elderly within the Elderly School, comprising 32 individuals, and 2) A group used for implementing the healthcare model for the elderly within the Elderly School comprising 40 individuals. The research tools include the developed healthcare model within the Elderly School, questionnaires on knowledge, behavior, and quality of life related to healthcare, and statistical analysis using mean, percentage, standard deviation, mode, and pre- and post-implementation correlation analysis using the Paired t-test.
     The study findings  1. The healthcare model for the elderly within the Elderly School is comprised of the following components 1) Operational processes, such as establishing school management mechanisms, forming committees, developing curricula, and conducting publicity. 2) Committees, including school management and personnel, curriculum development, and senior citizen school committees. 3) Teaching and learning facilities. 4) Budget for operations. 5) Components of the curriculum. 2. The levels of knowledge about healthcare, health-related behaviors, and quality of life among the elderly significantly increased after participating in the Elderly School activities at a statistical significance level of 0.05.
