Effectiveness of the information and preparation program before giving general anesthesia on knowledge, anxiety and postponement of laparoscopic gallstone surgery patients, Wanonniwat Hospital, Sakon Nakhon Province.

This quasi experimental research aimed to study effectiveness of the information and preparation program before giving general anesthesia on knowledge, anxiety and postponement of laparoscopic gallstone surgery patients, Wanonniwat Hospital, Sakon Nakhon Province. The samples were the patients who received treatment by laparoscopic gallstone surgery and giving general anesthesia during the month of February to April 2024 at Wanonniwat hospital, purposive sampling of 30 samples. The instrument of data collection included; the questionnaires of general characteristics, state anxiety test, knowledge test, and postponement of laparoscopic gallstone surgery recording form. The experimental instrument was of the information and preparation program before giving general anesthesia. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. The comparative parametric statistics used paired t-test.
The results showed; mainly of samples were 56.67% of age group between 50-59 years, 73.33% of female, 73.33% of married couple status, 40% of graduated from primary school, 36.67% of agricultural career, 46.67% of monthly family income 10,0001-20,000 baths. The related factor of surgical and general anesthesia included; no underlying disease was 60.00%, no history of surgical and giving general anesthesia was 70.00%, ASA class of II level was 70.00%, BMI 25-29.9 kg/m2 was 36.67%, no history of smoking was 76.67%, and sometime of alcohol drinking were 76.67%. After receiving the information and preparation program before giving general anesthesia found mean score of state anxiety was lower than before significantly (t=13.148, p<0.001) and mean score of knowledge was higher than before, respectively (t=-10.966, p<0.001). However, this research was not found postpone of laparoscopic gallstone surgery.
