Development of nursing guidelines for advance care planning for terminally ill patients who receive care Palliative Care, Bang Pla Ma Hospital.

Abstract

     This research was action research aimed to develop nursing guidelines for advance care planning for terminally ill patients receiving palliative care at Bang Pla Ma Hospital. Suphanburi Province, perceptions of quality-of-life Results of palliative care for terminally ill patients (POS) and terminally ill patients' satisfaction with the care received according to the guidelines. The research was conducted between September 2023 - January 2024. The sample group includes a group of Terminally ill patients who received palliative care before using the guidelines, 40 people and after giving the guidelines, 40 people. Tools used Nursing practice guidelines for advance care planning for terminally ill patients receiving palliative care. General health quality of life measure, short form: SF-36, palliative care outcome assessment form (POS), and satisfaction questionnaire. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation statistics. and t test and qualitative data was analyzed by content analysis.
     Result : It was found that the average quality of life scores before and after using the guidelines There was a statistical significant difference at the .05 level (p < .05). After using the guidelines, the mean score of palliative care outcomes (Palliative care Outcome:POS) decreased significantly. Statistics at the .05 level (p< .05) Satisfaction of caregivers with nursing guidelines for advance care planning for terminally ill patients receiving palliative care overall is at a high level ( mean = 4.27,S.D. =0.61)
