Nursing care of the patient Suboccipital craniotomy removal Vestibular schwannoma : A case study

Abstract

     This study is a case study. The objective was to study the problem and nursing care of patient with Suboccipital craniotomy removal Vestibular schwannoma. This patient is a 60-year-old female with a history illness of type 2 Diabetes mellitus, Hypertension, and Dyslipidemia. The patient came with the chief complaint of left facial palsy, dysarthria, and ataxia so the Neurologist performed surgery to remove Vestibular schwannoma. This study found that an important problem each period namely the visit preoperative period reduces the risk of falls, the risk of having surgery canceled or postponed surgery, the operative period includes complications such as intraventricular hemorrhage, a risk of injury to the brain tissue and cranial nerve in the surgery area, the postoperative period is the patient deteriorating neurological symptoms included unconsciousness, left-side weakness motor power grade 0, can’t breathe by myself had to be an endotracheal tube with the ventilator. After receiving treatment and nursing care with rehabilitation the patient is well conscious and the left arm and leg can move horizontally moter power grade 2, able to successfully wean the ventilator, and can breathe on its own without oxygen therapy The results of the Activity Daily Living assessment were moderately dependent. The doctor then refers to for further a nearby community hospital.
