Development of health literacy of village health volunteers in caring for diabetic patients at Huai Mek Hospital

Abstract

     The study of the development of health literacy of village health volunteers in caring for diabetic patients at Huai Mek Hospital aimed to study the health literacy of village health volunteers in caring for diabetic patients at Huai Mek Hospital and their ability to promote self-care behaviors for chronic patients. Village health volunteers at Huai Mek Hospital and to study the development of health literacy of village health volunteers in caring for diabetic patients at Huai Mek Hospital. This was an action research with a study period from September to October 2024, a total of 2 months. The sample group consisted of representatives of village health volunteers in Huai Mek Hospital, Kalasin Province, 15 villages, 4 people per village, totaling 60 people. Data were collected from questionnaires. Data were analyzed by content analysis, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Dependent t-test.
     The results of the study found that the health literacy of village health volunteers in caring for diabetic patients at Huai Mek Hospital and the ability to promote self-care behaviors of chronic disease patients, village health volunteers at Huai Mek Hospital, were found to be at a moderate level before the overall and each aspect, and at the highest level after the implementation. The health literacy level of the diabetes risk group at Na Charoen Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, Mueang District, Kalasin Province and the ability to promote self-care behaviors of diabetic patients, village health volunteers at Huai Mek Hospital, before and after the implementation were significantly different at the .05 level, with the mean score after the implementation being higher than before the implementation.
