The Effects of Pre-spinal Anesthesia Preparation Program on Knowledge, Anxiety and Complications of Elderly Patients undergoing Knee Replacement Surgery, Lamphun Hospital.

The purpose of this quasi-experimental research was to compare the knowledge and anxiety scores of elderly patients undergoing knee replacement surgery before and after receiving the pre-spinal anesthesia preparation program and to study the complications of elderly patients who underwent knee replacement surgery after receiving the program. Thirty elderly patients who underwent non-urgent knee replacement surgery and received spinal anesthesia at Operating room and anesthesia departments, Lamphun Hospital between June 1, 2024 and July 30, 2024. Experimental tools include a pre-spinal anesthesia preparation program. Data collection tools include personal data recording forms, knowledge assessments, and anxiety assessments. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and inferential statistics with Paired t-test.
The results of the study showed that after using the program, elderly patients who underwent knee replacement surgery Knowledge scores about spinal anesthesia administration and behavior have increased and the anxiety score decreased statistically significantly at the level of .05. There were no complications after receiving spinal anesthesia.
