The relationship between health literacy factors and behaviors to prevent early pregnancy among female adolescents, Sisaket Province.

This study is a cross-sectional analytical study aimed of examining the relationship between health literacy factors and pregnancy prevention behaviors among female adolescents in Sisaket Province. The sample consisted of 417 female adolescents aged 10-14 years from Sisaket Province, determined using Wayne's formula with a 95% confidence level. The participants were selected through multistage random sampling, proportionally distributed across districts in Sisaket Province. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire. The statistical methods employed included descriptive statistics such as mean, percentage, and standard deviation, as well as inferential statistics using Pearson’s correlation coefficient, with statistical significance at p-value <.05.
The research findings revealed that the participants had an average age of 12.84 years (SD = 0.26) and 58.8% were studying at the elementary school level. The participants’ overall health literacy regarding pregnancy prevention was at a moderate level (=14.22, SD = 3.28). Their overall pregnancy prevention behavior was also at a moderate level (
=53.64, SD = 12.58). The analysis of the relationship between health literacy factors and pregnancy prevention behaviors indicated that all components of health literacy were significantly associated with pregnancy prevention behaviors among female adolescents in Sisaket Province, with p-value <.05.
