Effectiveness of Self-Care Behavior Modification Program for Diabetic Patients With Uncontrolled Blood Sugar Levels in The Area Under The Responsibility of Ban Nong Yao Tambon Health Promoting Hospital, Det Udom District, Ubon Ratchathani Province.

Abstract

     This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effectiveness of a self-care behavior modification program for diabetic patients with uncontrolled blood glucose levels in the service area of Nong Yao Tambon Health Promoting Hospital, Det Udom District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The sample consisted of 92 participants, divided into two groups of 46 each. The experimental group comprised diabetic patients with uncontrolled blood glucose levels in the service area of Nong Yao Tambon Health Promoting Hospital, while the comparison group included diabetic patients with uncontrolled blood glucose levels from Kaeng Subdistrict, Det Udom District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The experimental group participated in the program for 12 weeks. Data were collected using questionnaires administered twice, before and after the experiment, from 5 November 2024 and 5 February, 2025. Data analysis involved paired t-tests to compare mean differences within groups and independent t-tests to compare differences between groups, with statistical significance set at the 0.05 level.
     The results showed that, after the intervention, the experimental group demonstrated significantly higher mean scores in diabetes knowledge, attitudes toward diabetes, perceived self-efficacy, social support, and self-care behaviors compared to both their pre-intervention scores and those of the comparison group (p < 0.05).
