Abstract

This study was a case study. The objective was to study the nursing care of post-knee replacement patients with prosthetic knee infection admitted to Rajavithi Hospital on November 16, 2024. The data were collected from patients, relatives, and medical records regarding personal history, past and present illnesses, family health, surgeries, drug allergies, and family illnesses. Establish nursing diagnoses based on the holistic nursing theory, Gordon's health assessment model, and Orem's self-care nursing.

The study results revealed that the patient was a 72-year-old Thai woman who had undergone left knee replacement surgery 7 months ago. One month before the examination at the hospital, the patient had pain, swelling, and redness in the left knee. When examined at the hospital, the doctor took an X-ray of her left knee and prescribed painkillers to take. The doctor made an appointment for a follow-up, but the symptoms did not improve. It was found that the left knee was painful, swollen, red, hot, had a high fever and the knee was very hot, could not walk, and the more I moved, the more pain I felt. The nursing diagnosis: left knee replacement was infected. The treatment was the surgical cleaning of the left knee replacement. Provide nursing care based on holistic nursing theory, combined with Gordon's health assessment model and Orem's self-care nursing, continuously at home.
