Nursing Care for Patients with Aggressive and Violent Behavior due to Amphetamine Use: Khon Kaen Hospital : 2 Case Studies.

Abstract

     This study aimed to study and compare the use of nursing processes in caring for patients with severe aggressive behavior from amphetamine use. This study was conducted in two cases admitted to the Saranchit Ward, Khon Kaen Hospital. The study was conducted in two cases: patients with severe aggressive behavior from amphetamine use who were treated in the Saranchit Ward, Khon Kaen Hospital. This study was conducted by reviewing knowledge of the literature and related theories, and applying the knowledge gained from the literature review/experience gained from practice to the study.

     The study found that Case 1, a 15-year-old unemployed Thai male, presented with a loud, violent, and destructive behavior, attempting to harm his mother. He was admitted to the emergency room of Khon Kaen Hospital. Police officers transported him. Laboratory results showed positive urine amphetamine levels and hypokalemia. He was diagnosed with amphetamine-induced psychosis and was initially treated with medication to calm him down. He was admitted to the Saranjit ward for 4 days. Nine nursing diagnoses were identified. Case 2, a 33-year-old unemployed Thai male presented with a loud, violent, and destructive behavior, including hammering and destroying objects, talking to himself, and hearing voices telling him to destroy objects. He was admitted to the emergency room of Khon Kaen Hospital. Police officers transported him. Laboratory results showed positive urine amphetamine levels and hypokalemia. He was diagnosed with amphetamine-induced psychosis and was initially treated with medication to calm him down. He was admitted to the Saranjit ward for 8 days. Nine nursing diagnoses were identified.
