Compare case studies of nursing care for patients infected with the coronavirus 2019 who have acute respiratory failure and have been intubated at Bamrasnaradura Infectious Disease Institute : 2 cases study.

Abstract

     This is a study on nursing care for patients with the coronavirus 2019 who have acute respiratory failure and have been intubated. Data were collected from patient histories and compared according to Orem's nursing theory. The study period was from June 11, 2025, to August 25, 2025.

     The study found that Case 1 was a 95-year-old Thai woman who came to the hospital with symptoms of fever, fatigue, and shortness of breath, with an O₂ saturation of 88%. The doctor intubated her and admitted. Case 2 was an 88-year-old Thai woman who came with symptoms of difficulty breathing, a rapid respiratory rate, and an O₂ saturation of 90%. The doctor intubated her and admitted to provide symptomatic treatment. Both patients received a full replacement nursing system. Due to their advanced age, this led to an increased risk of infection. Both patients subsequently passed away.
