Recalled Knowledge and Competency Development of Village Health Volunteers to be the Case Manager, Caring for the Elderly in the Local Community

This action research aims to recalled knowledge and competency development of village health volunteer. Village health volunteers (VHV) to be able to act as a case manager in the care of the elderly in the local community effectively, in a continuous manner, and to promote the care of the elderly in the local community in accordance with the administrative guidelines of the municipal health insurance fund in Nakean Sub-district, Muang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The sample group of volunteers who have been trained in the capacity building of community volunteers to be case manager of community dwelling elderly with disabilities course 20 people to join take care of 48 home-bound and bed-bound elders by participatory action research (PAR) and using AIC techniques that consist of knowledge enhancement, continuous development guidelines, practice, and evaluation. Data were collected using prepost test. The data analysis by content analysis, percentage and mean.
Results revealed that VHV trained course “Recalled Knowledge and Competency Development of Village Health Volunteers to be the Case Manager, Caring for the Elderly in the Local Community in both theoretical and practical subjects pass 100 percent. After the training, they have increased in all aspects. Most in terms of knowledge in elderly holistic healthcare assessing (92.58%), elderly people and caregivers are satisfied with the action and take care of the elderly (92.56%).
