Abstract

     Objective: To study nursing care process in patient diabetic ketoacidosis
     Result : A case study of a Thai male patient aged 40 years, he was admitted to hospital on March 15, 2021 with symptoms of tiredness and shortness of breath before admission for 4 hours. The patient have a congenital disease of diabetes. During nursing care in the accident and emergency room, nursing care of patients is divided into 3 phases. Phase 1: Pre-examination nursing, the patient had symptoms of very tiredness and dyspnea. Therefore, the patient was received the oxygen and tissue hypoxia monitoring. The patient was classified in to patients with type 2 diabetes and the medical record was prepared. Nurse
coordinated with doctor for immediate diagnosis of patient. Phase 2: Nursing during diagnosis, the doctor diagnosed diabetes Mellitus type II with Diabetic ketoacidosis. The patient had tissue hypoxia because he had high levels of blood acids called ketones in the body. The patient was received intubation, intravenous therapy according to the treatment plan, fixing in high blood sugar. Phase 3: Nursing care after diagnosis, the patient symptom was evaluated after intubation and receiving insulin administration and abnormal symptom was not found. The patient and relative were received the treatment information. After that, the patient
was sent to intensive care unit and then the patient was followed up for a 2 day. Off endotracheal tube. Blood sugar normal and complications were not found during nursing care. Patient was discharged on 22 March 2021, total of admission in hospital for 7 days.
