Prototype Development of Blood Donors Searching System

Currently, there are many patients who need blood transfusions. Either from an accident or a patient who needs to receive blood for treatment. Due to the pandemic of the Covid-19 virus, the number of blood donors has decreased. Therefore, many hospitals do not have enough blood reserves to meet the needs of patients. This article presents a prototype of a blood donor search system. The operation of the system is divided into 2 parts. The first part is a mobile application for blood donors. The blood donors will register using the mobile application, which sends the current location information of blood donors using a global positioning system (GPS) to a database using web service API so that National Blood Service Branch can find users near the National Blood Ser-vice Branch or the National blood service center. The system will show a message requesting blood donation from the National Blood Service Branch that needs blood to the donor. The second part is the web application for the administrator of the National Blood Service Branch or blood center. The administrator will register information about the National Blood Service Branch and find the nearest blood donors who are located less than 10 kilo-meters from the National Blood Service Branch. The National Blood Service Branch can display blood donors who accept the request. Finally, the developed system is only a prototype for the technical proof of concept. If it will be implemented, it must be more analyzed and designed according to the needs of the Nation-al Blood Centre, Thai Red Cross Society.
