This two-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of a preparation information program via the LINE application on the readiness and anxiety of patients undergoing bronchoscopy. The sample consisted of 60 outpatients with respiratory diseases indicated for bronchoscopy at Buddhachinaraj Phitsanulok Hospital. They were divided into an experimental group (n=30) and a control group (n=30). The research instruments included the preparation information program via the LINE application, a general data collection form, a readiness assessment form, and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI Form Y-1). Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, and paired t-test.
The results revealed that after participating in the program, the experimental group had significantly higher mean scores for both knowledge and physical readiness compared to the control group (p-value < 0.05). Furthermore, the experimental group's anxiety level significantly decreased compared to before participating in the program and was significantly lower than that of the control group (p-value < 0.05). The mean anxiety score of the experimental group decreased from 51.60 (S.D. = 3.47) to 36.10 (S.D. = 2.26), whereas the control group showed no statistically significant difference in anxiety levels before and after the experiment.
The recommendation for implementing the research findings is to apply this information program via the LINE application in bronchoscopy units. This allows patients to review the preparation guidelines at any time, which helps enhance their understanding, increase their sense of safety, reduce anxiety, and effectively improve their readiness to receive services.
