Factors related to health care behavior of type 2 diabetes patients in Na-Chaliang subdistrict health promoting hospital Nong Phai district, Phetchabun

This correlational descriptive study examined factors associated with self-care behaviors among patients with type 2 diabetes receiving services at Na Chaliang Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital, Nong Phai District, Phetchabun Province, Thailand. A total of 140 patients were selected using simple random sampling based on the Krejcie and Morgan sample size table. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire comprising three sections: demographic data, health perception, and self-care behaviors. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, chi-square test, and Pearson’s correlation. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05.
The results indicated that overall health perception was at a very high level (Mean = 4.40, S.D. = 0.39), and overall self-care behavior was also at a very high level (Mean = 4.07, S.D. = 0.67). The presence of comorbidity was significantly associated with self-care behavior (p = 0.01). In addition, overall health perception was moderately and positively correlated with self-care behavior (r = 0.40, p < 0.01).
These findings suggest that enhancing health perception among patients with type 2 diabetes may improve self-care behaviors and can inform the development of effective health promotion strategies for this population.
