
Publication Ethics
Roles and Responsibilities of Authors
- Authors must not submit manuscripts or articles that have been previously published elsewhere, nor submit duplicate manuscripts to other academic journals. Authors are also prohibited from submitting or publishing their work in other sources after it has been published in the Academic Journal of the Office of Disease Prevention and Control Region 8, Udon Thani.
- Authors must disclose all sources of research funding (if any) and declare any conflicts of interest (if any).
- All listed authors must have made a substantial contribution to the work, including the development of the conceptual framework, study/research design, implementation, and analysis and interpretation of results leading to the manuscript.
- For manuscripts involving research conducted in human subjects, authors must provide evidence that the study protocol has been reviewed and approved by an appropriate research ethics committee.
- Authors must not plagiarize or infringe upon the work of others and must properly cite all sources whenever others’ work is used or referenced in their manuscript.
- Authors must appropriately acknowledge and cite any figures, images, or tables used in their manuscript, including obtaining permission where required and clearly indicating the source to prevent copyright infringement. Any legal disputes arising from such use shall be the sole responsibility of the authors; the journal bears no liability.
- Authors must present accurate data and must not fabricate, falsify, manipulate, or selectively report data in a manner that misrepresents the findings.
- In the acknowledgements section, authors should obtain permission from individuals whom they wish to acknowledge, where feasible.
Roles and Responsibilities of Editors
- Editorial decisions to accept or reject a manuscript should be based on the manuscript’s alignment with the journal’s aims and scope, as well as its quality, significance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the Academic Journal of the Office of Disease Prevention and Control Region 8, Udon Thani. Editors must rigorously screen for plagiarism using reliable detection tools to ensure that published articles are free from misconduct. If plagiarism is detected, the review process must be suspended immediately, and the author must be contacted for clarification to inform further evaluation.
- Editors are responsible for determining whether submitted research, with sound methodology and reliable results, is suitable for publication in the journal.
- Editors must evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit without bias or discrimination related to race, gender, religion, culture, political views, or institutional affiliation of the authors.
- Editors must have no conflicts of interest with authors or reviewers and must not use submitted manuscripts or journal content for personal, academic, or commercial gain.
- Editors must not alter or interfere with the content of manuscripts or the reviewers’ evaluations, nor obstruct or manipulate the communication between reviewers and authors.
- Editors must maintain the confidentiality of all information related to authors and reviewers and must not disclose such information to unauthorized individuals during the review process.
- Editors must strictly adhere to the policies, processes, and procedures of the Academic Journal of the Office of Disease Prevention and Control Region 8, Udon Thani.
- Editors are responsible for maintaining the journal’s academic standards and continuously improving its quality and relevance to ensure it remains current and credible.
Roles and Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers must prioritize the quality of the manuscript and evaluate it based on sound academic principles and reasoning, free from bias or personal opinions, and without any conflict of interest with the authors. If reviewers recognize any potential conflict of interest that may prevent them from providing independent and objective comments, they must inform the editor and decline the review.
- Reviewers must not exploit the academic work under review for personal benefit and must not use any part or entirety of the manuscript as their own work.
- Reviewers should possess expertise in the relevant field and assess the manuscript in terms of its significance to the discipline, the quality of analysis, and the rigor of the work. They should also identify relevant and significant prior studies related to the manuscript under review. Personal opinions unsupported by evidence must not be used as criteria for evaluation.
- If reviewers identify any similarity or overlap between the manuscript and other works, they must promptly notify the editor.
- Reviewers must complete the evaluation within the timeframe specified by the journal.
- Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and must not disclose any information regarding the manuscript under review to unauthorized individuals during the review process.
