An 18 wheeler tow truck accident investigation : 3 deaths at the Ban Lao Na Ngam Intersection, Ban Wa Sub-district Mueang Khon Kaen District Khon Kaen Province.

Abstract

On May 4, 2019 at 06.50 a.m., an 18-wheel trailer crashed a motorcycle at Ban Lao Na Ngam intersection, Ban Wa sub-district, Mueang Khon Kaen district. Khon Kaen Province Three people were killed, and the driver of an 18-wheel trailer arrived at the scene. When arriving at a three-way intersection there was a motorcycle coming out of the village exit. Heading towards the city, there were 3 people sitting, father driving, mother sitting in the back and son sitting in the middle with luggage. When he arrived at the motorcycle intersection, he did not slow down and drove straight to cross the intersection without noticing on the left hand side that there was a tow truck on the way drive over the tow truck saw the motorcycle cut in front of him in a close distance, so he stepped on the brakes but still crash into the middle of the motorcycle. As a results, the driver and the passengers on the motorcycle died at the scene of 3 people. The cause of death for all 3 was caused by a broken skull. Haemorrhage under the cerebral cortex and in the case of a child with brain swelling and bruising Factors affecting this accident and death include people involved in negligence. And the wrong decisions of motorcyclists and tow truck driver and riding a motorcycle and without a helmet when an accident causes serious injury. The environment found warning light a tree branch blocked the warning light on the road coming out of the village. The warning signs are not clearly distinguished. From the investigation of this accident has resulted in the action to correct the environment. There is a plan to request a budget for installing traffic lights in the next fiscal year and the continued serious enforcement of the law.
