Abstract

This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effects of a health promotion program based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy on the knowledge and health behaviors of students at the Thailand National Sports University, Chiang Mai Campus. The target group consisted of 69 volunteers selected through purposive sampling who were willing to participate in the research project. The research instruments included: 1) a questionnaire assessing knowledge and health behaviors of students at the Thailand National Sports University, Northern Region campuses; and 2) a health promotion program adapted from the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, specifically designed for students at the Thailand National Sports University, Chiang Mai Campus. The statistical methods used for data analysis were percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test. The findings revealed that knowledge about health promotion was at a high level, with an average score of 42.00 (S.D. = 3.34). When comparing pre- and post-program evaluation results, it was found that after participating in the health promotion program, the average scores were significantly higher than before participation at the 0.05 significance level in the areas of exercise (t = 2.06, p-value = 0.02), smoking (t = 2.85, p-value = 0.00), and disease prevention  (t = 2.54, p-value = 0.01). Regarding health behaviors, it was found that health promotion behaviors related to smoking significantly improved at the 0.01 significance level, and exercise-related health promotion behaviors significantly improved at the 0.05 significance level.
