Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to develop role-play virtual activities to reduce violence among junior high school students. 2) To compare the violence reduction behavior of junior high school students before and after using role play virtual activities. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, which consisted of four phases: 1) studying and analyzing basic information, 2) designing and developing the activities, 3) implementation, and 4) evaluation. The target group in the implementation phase consisted of 60 junior high school students, with 30 students each from Phetchaburi Rajabhat University Demonstration School in Phetchaburi Province and Thanakarn Aomsin School in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. Participants were selected using purposive sampling. The experiment was conducted once a week, 30 minutes per session, for a total of six weeks. The research instruments included (1) role-play virtual activities through a metaverse platform specifically designed for junior high school students in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan Provinces and (2) a behavior assessment test for violence reduction. The data were analyzed using content analysis, mean, standard deviation, and dependent t-test. The research results found that

1. The role play virtual activities to reduce violence among junior high school students comprised three scenarios: 1) reducing sexual violence, 2) reducing social and cyber violence, and 3) reducing physical and verbal violence. The content validity, measured by the Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) index, was 0.93.

2. The students who participated in the role-play virtual activities showed significantly improved violence reduction behaviors after the intervention, compared to before, at the 0.05 level of statistical significance.
