THE EFFECTS OF BODY WEIGHT CIRCUIT TRAINING ON PHYSICAL FITNESS OF PHAYAO UNIVERSITY’S ATHLETE

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to study and compare the effects of body weight circuit training on physical fitness in Phayao University’s athletes. The participants were 40 male team players and were randomized into two groups. Group I (exercise-intervention group); 8 weeks of body weight training program with 3 days and Group II; control group (CG). Physical Fitness Test of Thai University Athletes was used for the fitness testing. Mean, Standard Deviation (S.D.), and t-test were used for data analysis. The results showed that after 8 weeks of exercise intervention group had significantly improved (p < .01) in the cardio-respiratory endurance (VO2max 37.98 to 42.51 ml/kg/min), the muscular endurance; 1-minute sit-up (31.09 to 34.09), 1-minute push-up (31.31 to 33.72), and the muscular strength; handgrip (0.69 kg/body weight to 0.76 kg/body weight), leg strength (2.44 kg/body weight to 2.75 kg/body weight).
