Abstract

This cross-sectional descriptive study aimed to examine behaviors, predisposing factors, enabling factors, and reinforcing factors related to solid waste separation. The sample consisted of 96 household representatives from Ban Nong Khun, Phak Phaew Sub-District, Kanthararom District, Sisaket Province, selected through systematic random sampling based on house numbers. Data were collected using a questionnaire during April and May 2024 and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that the majority of participants exhibited a moderate level of household solid waste separation behavior (51.04%), with recycling being the most commonly practiced activity. Regarding predisposing factors, 87.50% of participants demonstrated a high level of knowledge about solid waste separation, while 60.42% had a moderate level of perceived benefits, barriers, and attitudes towards waste segregation. For enabling factors, 95.83% reported the presence of recycling buyers, while 92.70% lacked knowledge on waste separation practices. Reinforcing factors were also at a moderate level (46.88%). In conclusion, half of the household representatives displayed moderate waste separation behavior. Although they possessed a high level of knowledge, predisposing factors such as perceived benefits, barriers, and attitudes, as well as reinforcing factors supporting solid waste separation, remained at a moderate level. Therefore, it is recommended to enhance knowledge dissemination about waste separation and emphasize its benefits to improve solid waste separation practices.
