DEVELOPMENT OF RATIONAL ANTIBIOTIC PRESCRIBING IN UPPER RESPIRATORY TRACT INFECTIONS, ACUTE DIARRHEA AND FRESH TRAUMATIC WOUNDS FROM ACCIDENTS IN OUT-PATIENTS AT SAMRONGTHAP HOSPITAL, SURIN PROVINCE

Abstract

This research was action research. The purpose of this research was to develop rational antibiotics prescribing in upper respiratory tract infection, acute diarrhea and fresh traumatic wound of out-patients at Samrongthap Hospital, Surin Province. Co-researchers were physicians, nurses, pharmacists and out-patients who were served from the three kinds of diseases. Data were collected during May - July 2022 by ThaiRDU and HosXP Program. They were analyzed by descriptive statistics and content analysis.


     The results of the research were : a group of out-patients who were served in three kinds of diseases about 2,439 patients. There were 1,317 patients (54.00%) under investigated and they received antibiotic about 156 patients (11.86%). There were 295Acute diarrhea patients (12.10%) and they received antibiotic about 56 patients (18.98%). There were 827 (33.91%) fresh traumatic wound patients and they received antibiotic about 434 patients (52.48%). From research, the participants who relevant to prescribed antibiotic showed that the general practitioners who prescribed antibiotic for three kinds of diseases about 568 patients (36.02%). And the nurse who prescribed antibiotic for three kinds of diseases about 78 patients (9.05%). For ICD10, the most of patients who were diagnosed were upper respiratory tract infection, acute diarrhea and fresh traumatic wound. They were J00 about 602 times, A099 about 150 times and S8080 about 59 times, respectively. For ICD10, the most of patients who received antibiotics in upper respiratory tract infection, acute diarrhea and fresh traumatic wound were J039, they received it about 15 times (75.00%). A090, they received it about 5times (38.46%). And S913, they received it about 45 times (90.00%), respectively. The average of the antibiotics that were implemented for upper respiratory tract infection, acute diarrhea and fresh traumatic wound about 11.86%, 18.98% and 52.48%, respectively.


     Discussions and conclusions : To develop rational antibiotics prescribing in upper respiratory tract infection, acute diarrhea and fresh traumatic wound of out-patients at Samrongthap Hospital, Surin Province. They are lower than the threshold for rational drug use. They should continuous develop rational antibiotics prescribing, and they should study every primary care unit of Samrongthap Hospital, Surin Province in the future
