Abstract

This research aimed to study and compare personal factors affecting the Perceived Motivational Climate of youth athletes who participated in the 40th National Youth Games, Region 5 Qualifying Round, Lampang. The sample group was male and female youth athletes who participated in the competition, resulting in 570 people. Using Stratified Random Sampling The research instrument was a standard questionnaire on the perception of motivation atmosphere in athletes, using a rating scale. The reliability value of the whole version, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, is equal to 0.82. The preliminary data were analyzed using percentages, means, and standard deviations. The differences were analyzed using t-test Independent, with statistical significance set at 0.05. The results of the research found that the Perceived Motivational Climate in playing sports between genders and types of competitions was not statistically significantly different, both in general and in the Mastery-Oriented Climate. However, it was found that in the Performance-Oriented Climate on effectiveness, there was a statistically significant difference between males and females at the level (p < 0.05), with males having a significantly higher mean ( X = 3.17, X = 3.01, p = 0.021). The conclusion of the research results indicated that male athletes placed more importance on POC than female athletes. Therefore, the design of training programs should take into account the differences in motivation between genders in order to promote efficiency and further develop athletes' potential.
