COMPARISON OF THE EFFECT OF A CIRCUIT TRAINING PROGRAM WITH TABATA ON ANAEROBIC, AEROBICS PERFORMANCE AND BLOOD LACTATE IN MALE FOOTBALL YOUTH ATHLETES
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to compare the effects of a circuit training program and a Tabata training program on anaerobic capacity, aerobic capacity, and blood lactate levels before and after the training intervention among male football players from Nongbua Pitchaya FC. The participants were 24 male youth football players aged between 18–23 years, purposively selected and divided into two groups (12 players each): a circuit training group and a Tabata training group. Both groups underwent training three times per week for a duration of eight weeks. The variables assessed included muscular strength, anaerobic and aerobic fitness, and blood lactate concentration. Data were collected pre- and post-intervention and analyzed using paired t-tests to compare within-group differences and independent t-tests to compare between-group differences. The results showed that both training methods significantly improved aerobic capacity (p < .05), as measured by the YoYo Intermittent Recovery Test. However, there were no statistically significant differences observed in anaerobic performance as measured by the Running-based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST). In addition, both training groups showed significant changes in blood lactate levels before and after the training period (p < .05), indicating physiological adaptation to high-intensity training. That high-intensity interval training can effectively stimulate improvements in both aerobic and anaerobic energy systems.
