Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effects of BOSU ball training on core strength among students of Hunan Sany Vocational and Technical College. A quasi-experimental research design was employed, involving 60 first-year college students. Random sampling using G*power program to calculate the sample group. Participants were randomly assigned into two groups: an experimental group (n=30) that received BOSU ball training, and a control group (n=30) that followed conventional core strength training routines. Both groups underwent pre and post-tests evaluating core strength by one-minute leg raise test and one-minute sit-up test at baseline and after an 8-week training intervention. Data were analyzed using t-tests and descriptive statistics. The findings revealed statistically significant improvements (p < .05) in the experimental group’s core strength after the training period, compared to their pre-test scores. Moreover, post-test comparisons between the experimental and control groups showed that BOSU ball training was significantly more effective in enhancing physical fitness components, particularly core muscle strength. These results suggest that incorporating BOSU ball exercises into regular training programs can be an effective method for improving core stability among college students, potentially benefiting their overall physical performance and injury prevention.
