Abstract

This research aimed to 1) investigate the effect of Mat Pilates training on the fundamental movement ability of support staff at Chandrakasem Rajabhat University, and (2) to compare the results of Mat Pilates training before and after the 8-week intervention period. This was a quasi-experimental research design. The sample group consisted of 32 support staff members, determined by computer program calculation with an Effect Size of 0.69 and a Power of Test of 0.95. The research instruments included a Mat Pilates training program designed by the researcher and a functional movement screen. The training was conducted for 8 weeks, twice a week, 40 minutes per session. The results revealed that the scores for basic functional movement screen in daily life significantly increased after the training (p < 0.001). The average score before the training was 12.87±1.36 points, and the average score after the training was 14.21±1.12 points, representing an average difference of 1.34 points (a 10.4% increase). Importantly, 71.9% of the participants showed increased scores, and no participant showed a decrease in scores. The effect size (Cohen's d = 1.074) was high. Based on these findings, it is concluded that an 8-week Mat Pilates training program can effectively improve the functional movement of support staff, particularly in aspects such as flexibility, core stability, and body balance.
