This study was a research and development aimed to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of Clinical Practice Guidelines for schizophrenic patients with aggressive behavior in the Mealan District, Pattani province. The study was conducted between October 2022 - September 2023. The development of the CNPG was divided into 4 phases: established guidelines, content validity check, effectiveness evaluation, and dissemination. The samples were 30 schizophrenic patients with aggressive behavior in the community of Mae Lan District and 10 nurses who provided nursing care for those patients, selected by purposive sampling. The Clinical Practice Guidelines for schizophrenic patients with aggressive behavior were implemented for 4 weeks. Data were collected using the Overt Aggressive Scale(OAS) for Schizophrenic patients and the satisfaction of nurses’ questionnaire. Content validity was checked by 5 experts, CVI = .99, and 1.00, respectively, with Cronbach's alpha coefficient = .83, and .86, respectively. Descriptive statistics and t-tests were used for data analysis (p <.05).
The results found that the nursing practice guideline for schizophrenic patients with aggressive behavior consisted of 6 components: patient rights protection, assessment, nursing care, referral systems, patient education, and medical record information. Significantly lower OAS was found after using the Guidelines, before ( =10.53, S.D.=3.350), after (
=0.80, S.D.=.847) t=15.953, p-value <.050). The findings of this study support the effectiveness of the nursing practice guidelines for schizophrenic patients in the community.
