The Development of Nursing Service Practice Guidelines for Surveillance of Debilitated Patients During Waiting for Examination outpatient department, Namsom Hospital Udon Thani Province

Abstract

     This research was action research aimed to study was to develop and study the effect of nursing service practice guidelines for monitoring debilitated patients during waiting for examination. outpatient department Namsom Hospital Udon Thani Province. Sample size were 30 professional nurses and patients receiving treatment at the Outpatient Department. Namsom Hospital Udon Thani Province between October 2021 - June 2022, 250-300 people / day. The tools used in the research were guidelines for surveillance of deteriorating patients during examination in general examination rooms. Data record form for patients who received surveillance, patients deteriorated while waiting for examination. The questionnaire consisted of a questionnaire on nurses' satisfaction with the practice guidelines for surveillance nursing services. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test. The qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis.
     The results showed that the nursing service practice guidelines for surveillance consisted of 1) early search, 2) continuous follow-up, and 3) surveillance according to the patient's condition. And the results of the use of surveillance guidelines for worsening symptoms showed that the average waiting time for examination was significantly reduced (p<0.001). No patient's symptoms worsened while waiting for examination. All patients were screened 100% by nurses.
