Development of an individual counseling model for new cancer patients at the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic, Kumphawapi Hospital

This research is an action research with the objective of developing and studying the results of an individual counseling model in new cancer patients at the Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic between April 2023 and July 2023. The sample group were all new patients with ear, nose, and throat cancer after being informed of the biopsy results. Choose specifically and professional nurses The research tools include: 1) Individual counseling format for new cancer patients combined with video media and brochures. Regarding diagnosis with Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) examination 2) Anxiety assessment form (Thai HADS) 3) Questionnaire on satisfaction with using the form. of new cancer patients Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Paired sample T-Test. Statistical significance was set at 0.05.
The results of the research found that 1) Individual counseling formats for new cancer patients at the Ear, Nose
and Throat Clinic include videos. and informational infographic sheets and individual counseling based on the concept of interpersonal relationships. It begins with the preparation process while waiting to hear the results of the biopsy using a method for building interpersonal relationships. After hearing the results of the inspection, clarification techniques will be used. Counselors during therapy sessions use techniques of information seeking, analysis, communication, and problem solving. Analysis for decision making and use of relationship in treatment 2) After using the model New cancer patients have less anxiety than before using the model. Statistically significant (p<0.001) and 3) new cancer patients are satisfied with using the model. Overall, it is at a high level. Statistically significant (p<0.001)
