Comparison of results of inguinal hernia surgery between day-to-day surgery patients and hospital admission patients in Phatthana Nikhom Hospital.

This study was retrospective study aimed to comparing the outcomes of same-day inguinal hernia surgery versus hospitalized inguinal hernia surgery.Samplesize were 300 patients diagnosed with inguinal hernia. The sample was divided into two groups: patients who underwent same-day surgery and patients who underwent scheduled overnight admission, with 150 patients in each group. Data were collected, including demographic data, surgical outcomes, and complications. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and t-tests.
Results: The study revealed that there were no significant differences in the characteristics of the two sample groups. Patients who underwent same-day surgery had shorter operative time, lower postoperative back pain score, less use of postoperative pain relief medication, and lower hospitalization costs compared to patients who underwent scheduled overnight admission, with statistically significant differences (p<0.05). The incidence of postoperative complications did not differ significantly between the two groups.
