Nursing care of patients at home with severe traumatic brain injury and receiving craniectomy: case study

Abstract

     A 47-year-old Thai female patient riding a motorcycle fell by herself. The patient received craniectomy at Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital and then was send to Rehabilitation at Kham Talay So Hospital for treatment. On 28 March, 2022, patient was admitted for 14 days and then was discharged and referred her for continuous care at home for follow-up visits. After patient discharge, the patient had a throat piercing wound, pressure sores, and wearing a rubber tube for feeding and putting a urinary catheter. The visit was planned into 3 phases: pre-visit phase, visit phase and end-visit phase. Patient was received the follow-up. Caregivers were able to care for the patient. The patient was no recurrence of treatment.
