Abstract

     This study was case study aimed at studying nursing care for elderly patients with of infection after cataract surgery with Intraocular lens Implantation is 1 case study. a Thai female 61 years old, presented with significant symptoms, The left eye was blurry, and could not see 15 days before coming to the hospital, the ophthalmologist scheduled surgery on the left eye with a cataract removal machine. Admitted to the hospital on 3 August 2023,

     The results of the study found that patients and relatives were worried and afraid of surgery, and the risk of infection after surgery from patients and relatives who lack pre-postoperative skills. In the surgery period, there is a risk of complications from local anesthesia injections, Risk of operating on the wrong person, wrong side, wrong lens, risk of accidents from using surgical tools, and Risk of contamination with germs during surgery. In the post-operative period, there is a risk of accidents due to loss of vision, pain in the left eye that had surgery, risk of infection after surgery Deteriorated self-care skills at home regarding dropping medicine, wiping the eyes, and storing medicine. On 15 August 2023, the patient came to the hospital before the appointment with symptoms of watery eyes, eye pain, and the left eye was blurred. An ophthalmologist diagnosed an Endophthalmitis. The Nurses coordinate transfers to hospitals with higher capacity. The patient was treated with Pars plana vitrectomy surgery. Antibiotics Intravitreal Injection and surgery to clear pus from the eyes. The nurse prepared for the preoperative period, the surgical period, the postoperative period, and for discharge home by applying the nursing process, health plan evaluation and D-METHOD discharge planning patients continuously follow up on treatment results. After cataract surgery the patient is safe. Has been rehabilitated and Discharged.
