Nursing care of Elderly patients with Hip Fractures complications at Kalasin Hospital : A study

Abstract

     This study was case study aimed to study and compare history, symptoms of illness, treatment plans, complications and nursing care of elderly patients with hip fractures and complications, A 2 case studies and to propose guidelines for nursing care of elderly patients with hip fractures and complications Kalasin Hospital. This is a case study of an elderly patient with a hip fracture, who were admitted to Kalasin Hospital. This  cases  study of an elderly patients  with a hip fracture by purposive sampling. Among patients diagnosed by doctors as elderly patients, there were 2 hip fractures. And there were admitted to the female orthopedic surgery ward, Kalasin Hospital between Aprill – October 2023. The data were  collected from medical record ,interviewed patients anf their relative. The functional health pattern  of Gordon's 11 Concepts of Health Model was used to assess health problems to planning a holistic  nursing care , nursing diagnosis, nursing care planning program ,and to evaluate the outcome  of nursing care of rehabilitation of an Elderly  patient with a hip fracture.         

     RESULTS:   Case study 1:A 65-year-old Thai femal patient with Important symptoms: slip and fall, left hip pain It was before coming to the hospital 4 hours. Patient had History of co-morbidities, diabetes, high blood pressure Heart disease and chronic kidney failure. The patient was treated with Closed reduction with internal fixation with Proximal Femoral Nail Antirotation (PFNA). After the patient had surgical treatment passed the critical condition and received treatment for complications, rehabilitation before discharge, symptoms gradually improved and can be sold back home. Case study 2: A 85-year-old Thai female  patient  with the main symptoms were slipping and falling while walking which occurred 12 hours before coming to the hospital.The patient had history of co-morbidities , diabetes, high blood pressure, and chronic kidney disease. The patient was treated with surgery: Opened reduction with internal fixation with Cephalomedullary nail right femur. After patient undergoing surgical treatment, she passed his critical condition and received treatment for complications and was rehabilitated before being discharged,  condition gradually improved  and sell by referral community hospital.
