The Effectiveness of the DSPM-based Family-mediated Preschool Parenting Program;Triple-P on Parents and Children in Child Development Center

This study is a quasi-experimental research with the objective of studying the effectiveness of a program that promotes development and creates positive discipline, involving family participation on early childhood caregiving skills, developmental aspects, and emotional intelligence. This research focuses on 45 parents and caregivers of children ages 2 years 6 months - 6 years, who are students at Early Child Development Center at Bangsai Subdistrict Municipality, Bangsai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The study spans a total of 4 activities over a period of 9 weeks: 1) Building Connections 2) Fostering Discipline 3) Cultivating Excellent Children 4) Cultivating Excellent Children. The two data collection tools used in the study are questionnaires and observation and Developmental Surveillance and Promotion Record by Health Personnel. The data is analyzed by using statistics, percentage, mean values, standard deviations, Paired Samples T-test, and McNemar Test.
The research found that parenting skills in creating positive discipline and overall development in early childhood is higher than before joining the program Statistically significant at the 0.05 level (p = .013, p = .000). In terms of children's emotional intelligence, there was no difference with a statistical significance at 0.05 level (p = .135).
