Nursing Care of Colorectal Cancer Patients with Colostomy and Ileostomy : Two case Studies

Abstract

     This study was case study aimed to study and compare the causes. Signs and symptoms, treatment, and nursing diagnosis Colon cancer patients who received artificial rectal surgery, a case study of 2 cases to propose nursing guidelines for colon cancer patients who had undergone colostomy and ileostomy surgery and were admitted to the Male Surgery Ward 1, Khon Kaen Hospital.

     The results of the study found that the first case study presented with symptoms of fatigue and weight loss and was diagnosed with colon cancer for the first time. The second case study was diagnosed with colon cancer. and received treatment before The patient came for an appointment to receive an ostomy. Both patients received treatment. by surgically opening the artificial anus The first case study was a Colostomy type. The second case study was operated by laparoscopy and was an Ileostomy type. The nursing diagnosis in the preoperative period was the same. Relatives and patients are worried about the condition of the disease and the treatment received. In the critical period, there is discomfort due to wound pain. continuous term Taught by a nurse specializing in ostomy wounds and inability to control bowel movements. During the discharge period, relatives and patients are worried about self-care when they return home because they have a fistula. Different nursing diagnosis sections preoperative period Case study number 1 had anemia from disease progression. and the location of the artificial anus was not determined. While the second case study was determined to have an artificial fistula positioned by an ET Nurse and was at risk from an electrolyte imbalance. In the critical phase, the second case study had hypoxia after surgery and was put on a ventilator. In the continuous period The second case study had hypokalemia. Important nursing care is Physical preparation and spirit for patients and relatives. By providing information about artificial anus and every patient should be determined for the proper placement of the prosthetic fistula.
