Nursing care of schizophrenia patients with aggressive behavior: A case study

This study was case study aimed to study nursing care of schizophrenia patients with substance addiction and aggressive behavior. By study male patient, age 37 years, was admitted to the hospital on December 23, 2023, with symptoms of being violent, noisy, physically attacking his mother and grandmother and destroying things. Methamphetamine test results from the laboratory showed positive results.
Results: The patient was diagnosed with Schizophrenia with aggressive and received treatment by injecting Haloperidol 5mg IM, and valium 10 mg IV every 8 hours. During care, patient has a risk for recurrent aggressive behavior and violent acts, complications from binding Interactions between individuals in the family inappropriate, and returning to drug use again. Nursing assesses health status according to Gordon's functional health patterns model with the nursing process to analyze and determine nursing diagnoses and plans for nursing care using Peplau's interpersonal theory for therapy. The patient received medical care until he was calm, interacted well with other patients and cooperated in nursing care. The patient was discharged from the hospital on January 10, 2024, totaling 19 days of hospital admission.
