A study of stress coping among caregivers of bedridden patients in the medical ward Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute.

This survey research aimed to study of stress coping among caregivers of bedridden patients. In the medical ward Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute. The sample consisted of 40 caregivers of bedridden patients. Data were collected by questionnaire. Data were analyzed using percentages, means, and standard deviations, and the relationship between stress and stress coping of bedridden caregivers was found using Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient.
The results of the research found that caregivers of bedridden patients had moderate stress. Caregivers of bedridden patients had moderate stress. In terms of stress coping, caregivers of bedridden patients used problem-relief coping the most. The results of the analysis of the relationship between stress and coping of bedridden patient caregivers had a statistically significant relationship (p < 0.01). Stress coping had a moderate positive relationship with overall stress coping (r = 0. .535, p < 0.01). Stress coping in each aspect had a high positive relationship with coping in the aspect of problem-solving management (r = 0.490, p < 0.01). Stress had a moderate positive relationship with coping in the aspect of emotion management (r = 0.834, p < 0.01), and stress had a low positive relationship with coping in the aspect of confronting problems (r = 0.240, p < 0.01).
