Model of Surveillance, Prevention, and Disease Control in the Cross-Border Railway System between Thailand and the Lao PDR

Abstract

     This research and development aims to develop and monitor the Model of Surveillance, Prevention, and Disease Control in the Cross-Border Railway System between Thailand and the Lao PDR. The study was conducted at the Nong Khai Railway Station border checkpoint in Nong Khai Province from January to September 2023. The research population included border checkpoint working groups, personnel operating at the checkpoints, relevant agencies in Nong Khai Province, and travelers entering the country. The sample group consists of 315 people who traveled by railway through the border at Nong Khai Railway Station between July and September 2023, selected by simple random sampling.
     The study's findings 1) The appropriate model for disease surveillance, prevention, and control consisted of key aspects including operational cooperation, disease surveillance, disease prevention, and disease control, along with evaluation mechanisms. 2) The evaluation of the model’s suitability for disease surveillance, prevention, and control revealed that the overall average suitability score was high. When considering specific aspects, the model was rated highly in terms of operational appropriateness, sustainability, practicality, user acceptance, and flexibility, with all aspects scoring at a high level 3) The assessment of satisfaction with the services provided under the disease surveillance, prevention, and control model showed that overall satisfaction was at a high level. When examining specific aspects, satisfaction was high regarding the processes and procedures of service delivery, the service personnel, the facilities provided, and the overall quality of service, with all aspects rated highly.
