Development clinical practice guideline and evaluation of referrals for patients with long bone fractures, Banphue hospital Udonthani province.

Abstract

     This research is action research. The research aims to develop guidelines, evaluate these guidelines, and assess the satisfaction of nurses who utilize these guidelines for patient referrals with long bone fractures at banphue hospital in Udonthani province. The population used in the guideline development process are professional nurses, outpatient departments, and emergency departments at banphue hospital who are assigned to refer patients 15, physicians 4, and emergency medical personnel 4. The research was conducted between August 2024 and October 2024. Data were collected by focus group and questionnaires. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and pair T-test.
     The research results found that the majority of the sample group was female (76.92 %), with an average age of 32 years (46.15%) were professional nurses, and had worked for 1-5 years.(46.15%) The average working period was 9 years. The result of nursing process development was clearer, increased font size, practice guidelines, nurses' roles, nursing diagnoses, and nursing activities for patients with long bone fractures, and allowed relatives to participate in receiving information and decision-making more. The result of evaluation of practice guidelines for referring patients with long bone fractures by category found that Category 1 scope and objectives (77.78%), Category 2 participation of relevant persons (69.44%), Category 3 practice guideline development steps(74.60%), Category 4 clarity of presentation(77.78%), Category 5 application(81.48%), and Category 6 independence of the practice guideline development team(77.78%). Nurses' satisfaction after development was higher than before development (= 4.05, S.D. = 0.83) with statistical significance at the 0.05 level, which is at a high level.
