The development of a dengue fever prevention and control model through community participation in Pak Phriao Sub-district, Mueang District, Saraburi Province.

Abstract

     This research aimed to study the situation, develop a model, and assess the impact of a community-participatory model for the prevention and control of dengue fever in Pak Phreak Sub-district, Mueang District, Saraburi Province. The sample was purposefully selected and included 30 general residents, 6 community leaders, 15 public health volunteers, and 2 teacher representatives. The research was conducted across three communities (Kang Khonun 2, Dao Sedet, and Ban Bueng). Data collection tools included a larval survey form, a dengue fever knowledge and behavior assessment form for the public, a community participation questionnaire, and a satisfaction questionnaire. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics and paired t-tests to compare differences.
     The results revealed that: 1) There was a significant statistical difference in dengue fever knowledge before and after implementing the model (p<0.05). 2) There was a significant statistical difference in dengue fever prevention and control practices among the public before and after implementing the model (p<0.05). 3) There was a significant statistical difference in community participation before and after implementing the model (p<0.05).
