The case study Health Promotion and Postpatum care for HIV infected and Prevention Maternal to Child Transmission.

Abstract

     This study aimed to study the nursing care for health promotion of postpartum mothers infected with HIV and to prevent maternal-to-child transmission of HIV. A 23-year-old Thai woman was diagnosed with HIV in 2019 and had not attended follow-up appointments. She began antiretroviral therapy in March 2023 and was admitted for delivery on May 8, 2023.
     Results: Nursing care for health promotion was provided postpartum, focusing on both physical and mental health. Education was offered on preventing the transmission of HIV to her child, husband, and others. A discharge plan was created to ensure continued care at home. Prior to discharge, information was coordinated for the mother’s postpartum care in the community through Smart COC, allowing for her discharge on May 8, 2023. Follow-up care demonstrated that the mother was able to manage her health and that of her child appropriately.
