Abstract

This study aimed to study nursing care for patients with drug-resistant urinary tract infections combined with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. An 88-year-old Thai female patient was admitted to the hospital on August 24, 2022, presenting with fever, abdominal pain, and decreased urine output, with blood in the nasogastric tube 1 day prior to admission.
Results: The physician diagnosed her with drug-resistant urinary tract infection and upper gastrointestinal bleeding. During nursing care, measures were taken to prevent and reduce infection, ensure comfort, manage fever, and prevent pressure ulcers. Antibiotics were administered according to the treatment plan. The patient’s condition gradually improved, with reduced fever, no nausea or vomiting, and increased ability to eat. There were no sediment in the urine. She was discharged on August 30, 2022, after a total hospital stay of 7 days.
