Effects of nursing guidelines on the use of anesthesia in colonoscopy patients.

Abstract

     The study of the effect of nursing practice guidelines on the use of anesthesia in patients with colonoscopy aimed to study the nursing situation in the use of anesthesia in patients with colonoscopy and to study the nursing practice guidelines on the use of anesthesia in patients with colonoscopy. This was a quasi-experimental research with a research period between July 2024 and August 2024, a total of 2 months. The sample consisted of 261 patients with colonoscopy at Yang Talat Hospital, 133 patients in Yang Talat Hospital area, 81 patients in Nong Kung Sri service network, and 47 patients in Tha Khantho service network. Data were collected from questionnaires. Data were analyzed by content analysis, frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Dependent t-test and F-test using One way ANOVA technique.
     The results of the study found that after implementation, the understanding of anesthesia use in colonoscopy patients and the understanding of behavior of colonoscopy patients at Yang Talat Hospital, overall and in each aspect, were at the highest level. Anxiety of anesthesia use in colonoscopy patients at Yang Talat Hospital, Kalasin Province, overall, was at the lowest level. Before and after the nursing practice guidelines for anesthesia use in colonoscopy patients, there were statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level. After implementation of the nursing practice guidelines for anesthesia use in colonoscopy patients, the understanding of anesthesia use in colonoscopy patients and the understanding of behavior of colonoscopy patients at Yang Talat Hospital, Kalasin Province, had a higher mean score than before implementation of the guidelines. However, the anxiety of anesthesia use in colonoscopy patients at Yang Talat Hospital, Kalasin Province, had a lower mean score than before implementation of the guidelines.
